Synopsis:
As a teenager in Nazi Germany, Jutta unluckily discovers that she is Jewish. She joins the German resistance and meets Helmuth, an injured soldier. The two become infatuated with one another and, together, conspire in the final ill-fated plot to assassinate Hitler.
This would sound like a pitch for a Hollywood blockbuster were it not all true. Surviving Hitler: A Love Story is in fact a harrowing documentary of war, resistance and survival with the core being a love story. The original 8mm footage (shot by Helmuth) is narrated powerfully by Jutta herself.
Winner of the Inspiration Award at the 2010 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and the Human Spirit Award at the Ojai Film Festival.
